100 - When a Little Chaos Creates the Space You Need
One small idea can sometimes create a surprising amount of chaos.
A couple of weeks ago, I realized that switching the placement of my MacBook and monitor might make my Zoom setup work better. That simple thought quickly grew into something much bigger. Before long, I had decided to move my entire office out of the sunroom and return it to the front room of our house.
That meant clearing rooms, moving furniture, sorting through books, craft supplies, keepsakes, sewing machines, and plenty of things that no longer had an obvious home. For a while, our house looked and felt completely chaotic.
But the temporary inconvenience has already been worth it.
I now have a dedicated office where I can close the doors, reduce distractions, record my podcast, and focus during the work hours I am intentionally creating in this new season of my life. The space is not completely finished, but it already feels like a meaningful step toward the work I am building.
In this episode, I share how one small idea turned into a complete room transformation, why I chose not to wait until fall to make the change, and what I am learning about allowing a little chaos when it leads to greater clarity and focus.
I also share an update on one of my major reading goals for 2026. I am nearly finished reading Catherine Cowles’s entire backlist, and I am now reading her newest release. It has been such a fun goal to pursue, and I am excited to soon be completely caught up and able to read each new book as it is released.
Sometimes the best next step creates a temporary mess. That does not necessarily mean it is the wrong step. A little chaos can be worthwhile when it helps create a space, rhythm, or environment that supports the life you are moving toward.
Thank you for joining me for episode 100 of Thriving Mosaic and for continuing to be part of this journey.
Until next time, live your life with chaotic purpose.
