086 - That’s Not Who I Want to Be. That’s Who I Am
This week, I sat down to share a simple story that turned into something much deeper.
I found myself reflecting on a moment from years ago that changed the way I see people. The realization that I will never know someone else’s full story has shaped how I show up in the world ever since. It influences how I interact with strangers, how I respond in everyday situations, and how I choose to extend grace, even when it’s hard.
Then something small happened this week. A conversation with a server. A spontaneous decision. A Blizzard from Dairy Queen. It wasn’t a big deal on the surface, but it created a moment that stopped me and made me notice something important. I caught myself thinking about the kind of person I want to be… and then realized I’m already being that person.
That shift matters more than it might seem.
Even with daily affirmations and intentional thinking, I still have moments where I forget who I am. And in those moments, I get the chance to pause, check myself, and come back to what’s true. There’s a difference between becoming someone and recognizing who you already are.
I also share a bit about what’s been unfolding in my family, and how meaningful it feels to see others step into something new for themselves.
At the core of all of this is one question:
What story are you telling yourself about who you are?
Because that story shapes everything.
